Coaching Institute

For Coaches

This section is built to become a true coaching institute: philosophy, standards, practice architecture, concept teaching, athlete development, and a clear language for how we coach kids.

LAX University coaching is built on a high standard and a human approach. Players do not all learn the same way, and they should not all be coached with a flat “treat everyone exactly the same” model. The system should create structure, clarity, accountability, and respect.

We believe young athletes should learn how to think the game, not simply memorize plays.

Shorter intervals of intensity, revisiting concepts, individualized adjustment inside shared drills, and honest film review all shape the method. The goal is not complexity for its own sake. The goal is to teach players how to play the game with confidence and understanding.

How We Teach

Coaching Philosophy

  • Confidence before unnecessary complexity
  • Decision making over memorization
  • Concept teaching over isolated drill chasing
  • Respect, accountability, and communication
  • Long-term development over short-term ego wins
Practice Design

How We Build Practices

  • Start with a clear concept or theme
  • Teach the why before asking for speed
  • Use novice, intermediate, and advanced layers inside the same drill
  • Revisit the same concept after intensity instead of abandoning it
  • Finish with reinforcement, recognition, and standards
USA Lacrosse

Coaching Standards + Certification

LAX University supports the coaching standards and educational mission of USA Lacrosse, the national governing body for the sport. We encourage coaches working with youth athletes to pursue USA Lacrosse Coaching Certification so safety, age-appropriate development, and stronger practice design are part of the coaching baseline.
